Hi peeps! Here’s the last episode of the third season of Attic Addict: we herewith proudly present Shiko Shiko playing like devils… Although Shiko Shiko’s name might be connoted to onanism, this is definitely not a wanker performance!

We hope this video will make you feel like seeing them live too. They will be playing at  ”Les Nuits Secrètes” festival on August 7th, and their 3rd EP is due out in Fall 2010 (the first ones are available for free on their myspace)

Let them now tell us how they lived the recording session:

In this city, darkness and fog led us to a nice and small house around a street. There we found some happy comrades, who gave us help in this hostile world. They suggested that we play music in their lovely attic, and we accepted (fortunatly, and do not ask me why, we brought our instruments in this blured landscape). They told us they loved to eat music. As they saw we were clueless, they hurried us to take our instruments. In less than a minute, we were behind them (our instruments, of course), we did not feel any pressure, we felt as if we were in cotton, or silk, as half awaken, dreamy. As the performance finished, their hunger left what they called their « musical stomach ». They just added that what our instruments produced tasted somehow like raw meat.
« May you excuse us for that, we cannot do more sophisticated, we ain’t some great musical cook. » We added.
They looked happy with it. After that 12 minutes of pure bliss, the sky turned blue. We saw it through the roof. Our happy comrades said we could leave, we did that.
After walking a while, we turned our back to take a look at the little house, but it disappeared. Never we found that house again. But memories of it are real, as the video the happy comrades gave us.

Each time we have a band with a crazy name, i’m really happy to be able to do my special bad joke, playing with words…

But this time, it’s been done so much time with Roken, that I won’t do it!

So just enjoy this gig with an amazing summer energy, perfect for the current warmness!

These two birds coming from outer space settled in our Attic to sing-song their music made out of the strangest sounds, organic samples, various instruments and electronic experiments. Their music is sometimes labelled “folktronica”, but it’s much more than this.
Let them foray into your imagination and take off for this 12 minutes trip!

We were peacefully recording in the attic when Funky Fingers came to hack our session!

He came with some of his friends ( Chuck Norris, JCV…) and put everythings out of control!

We are not responsible for the content of this video!

‘ What do you want? you want me to write something about your “home made live Music sessions” ? Fuck off ! I’m not going to promote your shit ! It’s your job not mine ! I’ve already played in your cold and humid attic which is the most impressive part of my performance ! and about the video I’m sure you made it worst to hide to the world how Funky Fingers may dominate his contemporaries !
I do not love you ! ‘

We already welcomed Nico last season with The White Loose Woman, so we were really happy to meet him one more time with his crazy energy!

We tried to match their crazyness as much as we could with the video… So you should put your 3D glasses!

It was a monday morning after 2 crazy days of attic addict shooting, my night night was not totally finished yet, and my sticky eyes were just rejecting to watch any screen…

It was a monday morning as others, but when Amélie started to play, everything slowly woke up…

It’s a good way to start your week, to finish it, and to spend it as well!

Good morning everybody!

‘Monday morning… It’s my turn to go into the attic. Well, if i manage to find my way! I ask for it to an old lady: “Make a left, then a right, and a left…” and…. it’s not the good place! I finally manage to reconize the good house. I’ve been then before with Louis Aguilar for a previous season.

Coffee smells good in the kitchen, and the team is slowly waking up. I go upstair, in the attic, where someone tell me that Fonzie from Rocken did the session topless yesterday. I think about it for 2 seconds, but finally prefer a white t-shirt to it.

Sound check… and here we go for a 12 minute shooting, 4 tracks. It’s really distabilizing to play in the silent attic, but very exiting in the same time!
And it’s already over, i stop in the pool blue corridor for the picture, and I let the team go on with the next band.’

Members of Two Left Ears have been around the attic for a while!

For many years we’ve been doing experimental projects, jamming, doing BBQ… Pierre, the drummer has even spent a part of his childhood in this house, and Mathieu, the double bass player is one of the current roomate!!

So, it was natural to spend this monday with them, but this time Easter gift are in the attic instead of the garden.

They will be playing @ La malterie on April 19th, where you will be able to find their ‘Lazy e.p’.

Their debut album ‘Lazy Trace’ will be released on May 31st, and they will be touring the US this June and July.
You can check more tracks here:

Enjoy!

‘saturday lunch in the attic…

hard to find energy for a live set at that hour
[when i just want to stay in bed]

no audience (almost)

lots of stuff hung and hung in the brain from the night before…
I looked at my alarm clock, beat on it
and we were suddenly launched for 12 short minutes
and I heard Pierre improvized on his toms as a painter
and hi-waves from Asako and her reverbs
and tidal waves from Mat and his woody fat granny
and Max with colored vinyls in one hand, his head up and down…
and and and…
that was energy…
thanks to the attic addict team for their hospitality, their originality, their work and their addiction to music…’

Let’s start with Curry & Coco’s hottest single: “SEX IS FASHION”

and let’s watch “YUMMY MUMMY” followed by their coming new single: “TOP OF THE POP”!

What could I say about Curry & Coco?

Firstly, that they represent everything I like in this kind of music. I’m really in love with synths sounds, and Curry & Coco manage to send me back to this universe without being cliché.
Best thing to say is probably to admit that I’ve been singing “Yummy Mummy” in my kitchen everyday since we recorded them! ENJOY!

Curry & Coco will be releasing their debut LP “We Are Beauty” on April 12th! You can listen to their EP already:

Here is the first video of Attic Addict SEASON 3!

We are really happy to share this moment with John Makay which is truly an “attic addict band”. These guys are as much adorable as their music is amazing! We spent such a nice time, hope you’ll have the same!

In this video, John Makay plays “lymphocite intrusion”, then “witch girl”.

Formed and based in Amiens, France in October 2005, John Makay is an instrumental math rock duo built with epic guitar and drums, without fx or loops.
The self released first album,”Mon Amour Mi Amor” is an autobiographical account of a super hero, confused and staring at the world.

The hypnotic sound of tapped guitar (clear/distortion/reverb) running along frenetic drums, release emotions in the live performances in this original vision of the new continent’s music woven from the old one…
The Band has just released its new album on label [ikoz]

” The previous day, we just did our first 2010 gig at el bar (Mouscron, Be). So we didn’t sleep enough, and arrived in the attic not really fresh, but Attic’s team welcomed us great.

Romain plays with amp that he doesn’t understand (or which doesn’t understand him), and that is not turned so loud cause of the neighbors. So he’s taping loudly on strings, and get a cramp before the end of the first track, and so forget to retune his guitar, and here the drama come!!!!

For my part, I play as a god as usual… It’s probably my blameless side…

We finish shooting totally empty like after a gig, but we just played 12 minutes! We’re not so proud of ourself, but really happy that we made new friends, and to meet the Roken who are playing just after us!” Charles from John Makay

Here is New York City based band, Windy Hill Mill, Attic Addict session for “Season 2,5″.

Band was touring Europe during our attic addict vacation and reconsideration, but we couldn’t miss the opportunity to record them! So, we organised special recording session!

After a few months, Attic Addict is ready for his back to school and offers you this postcard of his studious vacations…

“There the winding creaking stairs, a placid white mask peering over our shoulder, a vaulted roof, secrets cameras, and a small window looking upon the garden. Then everything tuned into colors.” Windy Hill Mill
