Jemapur was coming few days in Paris to visit and to play a (amazing) gig at Le Monte en l’air, and we just couldn’t miss the opportunity to shoot an Attic Addict session! We didn’t have time to find a “real” place to shoot, so we just quickly set up in my appartment! I particulary glad that we were able to shoot this session because we’re terribly missing electronica music on our website, and I love this music!

we will remember Misteur Valaire not only for their music, but also because of the great atmosphere they managed to put in the yurt: they were really happy to record this session, and were very nice and positive people.
this feeling can be relived thanks to this fifth session of our Season at Dour 2011!

Les Hurlements d’Léo, the much famous french band, stopped by our Yurt to record this session. This committed punk rock band definitely shows us their skills as musicians, performers and songwriters.

It was saturday night, and it was raining so much that we were about to stop our shootings for the day, when DAFP came under the yurt. It was risky for sure, but we had been so impressed by the energy of this belgian power trio on stage!
So, ok, let’s have a wet session!
…and then, something surnatural happened: the sound was so loud and the riffs were so fat that even the sky got scarred and….. the rain suddenly stopped.
So let’s now live this experience at home by listening their LP “Master” (2011) or watching one of the loudest Attic Addict session of Dour 2011!

The three Hoquets players are certainely very bad on ice-skates, but they really do the job on handmade wooden instruments !
Kicking on boxes and saucepans, sliding on a one string instrument that we’ll call….hum….well…”stuff”!
They will tell you about a dwarf called Napoleon ( 1815 ), a cooking recipe ( Couque de Dinant ), and a short description of Charleroi ( Cha Cha Charleroi ). They will make you smile and dance like a « monkey-python » !
Their first album, called « Belgotronics », refers to « Congotronics », a side project of Konono n°1 with Hoquets, Deerhoof, and many more, released by the famous label Crammed Discs.

This summer, while you were laying on a tropical beach, under the sun (or not), our Attic Addict team went for the second time setting his tents in the famous Dour festival!
Here is Primitiv, one of the session we shot during these amazing four days we spent there. This guy was just incredible, when you think about beatboxing, you couldn’t think that it goes that far and in that style! Maybe that’s why he’s the 2009 world online vice champion…. ; ) You should check more on his Myspace!
This first episode of season 6 (already??!!) is also a good moment to explain the directions we took. Before starting a new season, there’s always this time you’re wondering which new things you can bring compared to the previous season… At some point, we tried to catch up with what was happening all around the web and standards new platforms were trying to impose us, this HD apologia as a key point for any production. Today, we think we were wrong, and that Attic Addict is not meant to be shot with Canon 5D MarkII like everybody does. That’s why we came back to our good old recipes, using mostly small shity cameras, and editing all the video live. It might be sometime a bit rough, sometime a bit too much intense, but it’s what we like because it’s alive and it’s matching with the music experience. So we hope you will enjoy this new season!

L’œil du cyclone crafts a unique and modern Jazz, somewhere between Jimi Hendrix’s cover of “Born under a Bad sign” and Miles Davis’ mythical “Bitches Brew” , not very far from french saxophonist legend Julien Lourau.
This band is composed by some of the finest jazz musicians of the North of France (Antoine Côme (sax), Charles Duytschaver (batterie), Cédric Gilmant (trombone), Gérald Lacharière (flute), Olivier Verhaeghe (basse), Frédéric Volanti (piano) ) and we hope you’ll get a chance to see them live!

Peru Peru is another band we had a lot of pleasure to follow from its very begining.
After they spent few years growing up smoothly in the sun of their mysterious island, they’re coming back in the attic to present their e.p ”Jean Barberis”, released on Pil records.

I’ve been listening to electronica music since i was an early teenager thanks to my nerd friends…
I quickly understood it was not the best way to catch girls and that my classmates who were parts of rock bands were definitly more popular… Nevertheless i kept this love for electronica music ( does this word still make any sens?)…
Lepolair is definitly someone who’s doing great electronica music in Lille, and someone we don’t see enough according to me. So Attic Addict brings you his music to your flat with this great session, and of course don’t forget to check more on his myspace!

The stories of We Are Enfant Terrible and Attic Addict are very close… Not only is Thomas (the guitar player) a core member of Attic Addict, having mixed over a hundred of Attic Addict sessions over the years, but the attic in which this (and many, many others) video has been shot is also the very place where the We Are Enfant Terrible did compose and recorded their debut LP “Explicit Pictures” (released on Last Gang records).
So, naturally, the band shot its second session in the Attic (you can watch their first time here) and it’s a delight for us to present you their crazy punk & 8bit rock music in flesh ‘n blood!

When we say that Attic Addict promotes local bands, it couldn’t be more true with The Hanged Man and the Moon ( we’ll call them by their sweet nickname THM…).
They taste the sweet flavor of attic’s grown band, and it’s a special feeling for us, after having spent so much time looking, amazed at their rehearsals, to present you what has became an incredible project!

Here is a band we know and appreciate a lot in the Attic Addict team! We already recorded Berline 0.33 two seasons ago, in the attic, and this time we were in their rehearsal studio at La Malterie, where we shot 6 bands during this sunny sunday (was it?!). So, we would like to thanks them for the help, and sorry Nico for the calendar problem! : )
For all these reasons, we’re proud to display this video for their first album release!

Right after having played an amazing set in front of thousands of exstatic festival goers, and just a few hours before getting in a plane back to Japan, DJ Kentaro came into our Yurt to record the very last session of this Attic Addict’s fourth season. So we logically had to make this the very last season’s episode…

Vismets are a rising star in the belgian Rock scene. They’ve been (and are still) touring a lot across France and Belgium, and have witnessed a growing interest for their explosive and solid live performances.

Critically acclaimed london-based hip hop group Foreign Beggars are well known for their powerful live performances all around the globe. As Orifice Vulgatron, Metropolis and DJ Nonames came in our yurt, it was already late in the night, and as it was the Dour Festival’s last day, we were quite tired, but they definitely made us jump around as soon as they got on stage.
